Boundaries are everywhere around us, although you are not aware of them, or sometimes you ignore them. However, boundaries are essential in our life. Boundaries define us. They define what is me and what is not me. Boundaries define others as well. One example to show the importance of boundaries is if I know where my backyard begins and ends, I am free to do what I like within the area, and I don't go excessively to another backyard that makes other people feel bad and unsafe. In other words, boundaries are protecting us. One of the lessons for my students is learning who they are and what they are. Suppose they can differentiate "self" and "others," more to come with consequences, responsibility, and building trust with other people. These concepts definitely help them step into the community and build appropriate relationships with other people, and eventually, they will have their own social life.
